Transitional Housing (TH)
Transitional Housing programs are designed to provide temporary housing and supportive services to help homeless individuals and families move toward independent living.
Project First Step is a combined Rapid Re-Housing and Transitional Housing program specifically for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
- The Rapid Re-Housing component offers 23 scattered-site housing units across Wayne County.
- The Transitional Housing component is provided through Sunrise Home I and II:
- Sunrise Home I offers transitional housing for 8 single individuals.
- Sunrise Home II offers transitional housing for 8 single individuals and 3 families (with no more than two children per family).
In addition to assistance with locating housing and providing rental support, Project First Step offers participants intensive case management and personal life coaching. Supportive services include:
- Stability-focused support groups
- Educational enhancement opportunities
- Employability skill development
- Financial empowerment workshops
- A strong emphasis on self-care and healing from past trauma
The program’s goal is to help participants rebuild their lives and achieve lasting independence in a safe, supportive environment.
