Rapid Rehousing

Rapid Re-Housing (RRH)
Rapid Re-Housing offers short-term rental assistance and supportive services designed to help individuals and families quickly secure housing, increase self-sufficiency, and maintain stable housing. This program is provided without preconditions — meaning participants are not required to have employment, income, a clean criminal record, or sobriety to qualify. Services and resources are tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual or family.
Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan receives referrals for these programs through the Coordinated Assessment Model (CAM) in Detroit and the Housing Assessment and Resource Agency (HARA) in Out-Wayne County. This referral system follows HUD requirements, ensuring that prioritized households — specifically those who are literally homeless or fleeing domestic violence — receive assistance.
In addition to covering monthly rent for a limited period, the program offers support with:
- One-time moving costs
- Legal services related to obtaining or maintaining housing
- Transportation assistance for housing and job searches
- Utility deposits and utility assistance
- Case management and counseling services
